Laura F. Canfield, USTA/Middle States Executive Director
Here are a few more pictures Laura has shared with us. |
Address: 11 Bellwood Drive, Feasterville, PA 19053 Profession: Executive Director, US Tennis
Association/Middle States Section Biography: After H.S. I spent a year at Wilkes
College deciding what I wanted to do when I grew up. Decided on a
career in Recreation and Leisure Services Management and headed for
studies at East Stroudsburg University--and yes, it was not easy
explaining to my parents that I was going to college to major in
leisure! Graduate school followed at the University of Massachusetts
(Amherst) for a masters degree in Sports Management/Administration.
My first post-academic positions were in New York City followed by a
5-year stint with the United States Tennis Association's Eastern
section (NY) as the director of junior recreational and competitive
programs. In 1990, I accepted the position as Executive Director for
the USTA/Middle States section that services PA, DE, NJ and WV. I
live and work in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. It has been a great 12
years back in my "home state" but winds of change may be
blowing---so stay tuned! Speaking of winds, when I am not playing
"workaholic" I am staying true to my love of recreation
and I am a passionate sailor. I am also an avid herb gardener and
enjoy a variety of leisure time activities including gourmet
cooking, biking and of course the occasional game of tennis
(although not nearly as much as you would think!). I do not do any
of these activities well--guess I am a "Jack of all
Trades-Master of None!" But heck--it sure is fun! Sorry I'll
miss you at the reunion--unfortunately I will be working in NYC at
the US Open. Enjoy and I will be thinking about you all! |
