Viewing System Information

The Status tab of the Administrative Console summarizes information about the health and configuration of the HP Media Vault.

To view system information
  1. At the computer, click Start, All Programs, HP Media Vault, and then Control Center.
  2. On the Tools tab, click Customize HP Media Vault.
  3. You are prompted for an administrator name and password if you set one up. For additional information, see Editing System Settings.

The following information displays on the Status tab of the Administrative Console.

  • System Status
  • The system status shows whether there are alerts or not. Click View Log to see a list of HP Media Vault activities. The date and time, description, and importance level are associated with each activity.
  • Serial Number
  • The serial number is also printed on a sticker on the HP Media Vault. You may be asked to provide the serial number if you call HP customer support.
  • Firmware Version
  • Hewlett-Packard occasionally offers upgrades to the HP Media Vault firmware. The firmware version number identifies the installed firmware release.
  • New Firmware Available
  • Click to download and install the latest HP Media Vault firmware. Installing updates ensures that you experience the full functionality and performance of the HP Media Vault.
  • Date and Time
  • This field displays the Media Vault's current date and time. Files created on the Media Vault and all date and time stamped activities use this information.
  • Remote Access
  • Remote access is either enabled or disabled. If it is disabled, enable it by clicking Setup and then Set Up Web Address to create a personal domain and set up remote access.
  • Last Backup
  • Date of the last backup of the shared folders on the HP Media Vault to a USB device.
  • Language
  • Select a language from the drop down list.
  • Disk Usage
    • Total Storage
    • Total Storage is the sum of the storage space on your HP Media Vault's disk drive 1 and disk drive 2, if you have one. It does not include storage space on any devices connected directly to the Media Vault or over the network, such as a USB drive or another computer.
    • Available Storage
    • Available Storage is the amount of free space on your HP Media Vault.
