Changing a User’s Folder Privileges

User’s have access privileges for each private shared folder on your HP Media Vault. Initially, users do not have access to existing shared folders or any new folders you create. You must grant folder permissions to users before they can see the folder or its contents.

To change privileges for multiple users on a single folder
  1. At the computer, click Start, All Programs, HP Media Vault, and then Control Center.
  2. On the Tools tab, click Customize HP Media Vault.
  3. You are prompted for an administrator name and password if you set one up. For additional information, see Editing System Settings.
  4. On the Shared Folders tab, locate the folder you want to modify.
  5. Click Edit.
  6. Note

The Folder Access must be set to Private in order to set sharing privileges for individual users. If you choose to set the Folder Access to Public, you can set one password that all users share and choose who you tell the password to.

  7. Select the Folder Access level for each shared folder.
  8. Only private folders show in this list. User’s do not have access to new or existing folders by default.
    • Full Access - The user can open, change, and create files and sub-folders.
    • Read Only - The user can open files or folders but they cannot create, rename, or change them.
    • None - The user cannot see the folder or access it in any way.
  9. Click Save.
